How to Send WhatsApp Chats from a Website Without Saving a Phone number

If you own a business you would wish clients to reach straight and faster via WhatsApp without saving your mobile number, you can create a deep link to help you achieve that via your website or broadcast you do in your marketing campaigns. in this article, we elaborate further on how you can achieve your goal.

There are several ways you can integrate WhatsApp on your website, Using the WhatsApp API Documentation or Using Third-party plugins.

We are going to help you set up WhatsApp chat using the WhatsApp API. This is termed as the most “technical” solution (it’s actually very easy). This solution allows us to integrate the click-to-chat link in any part of the website.

It very simple, you will just have to add your personalized link to an image, a button or any call-to-action in order to allow WhatsApp to open to your users.

1. To create your personalized link without a custom predefined message

You can set it up using two ways, Using the API link or the Shortened URL for WhatsApp and include your international phone number (include the country prefix)

https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=

https://wa.me/whatsappphonenumber

If your number is, for example, 0737844929 and your country code +254, your link will be:

https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=254737844929 or https://wa.me/254737844929

N.B.: just remember to remove the + that you find before the country code.

The above code only opens a chat on your browser or if using your phone WhatsApp notices the deep link and prompts you to choose the default app you want to use for the link.

 2. To create your personalized link with a predefined message

While creating the message you need to urlencode it so that it removes all blank spaces and special characters to a browser readable link.

Following steps from Personalized link with a message and an extra variable “text” to pick the intended message.

https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=whatsappphonenumber&text=urlencodedtext

https://wa.me/whatsappphonenumber/?text=urlencodedtext

Lets urlEncode our message =Hello%20Sparkskills the %20 in a URL represents blank space

Our Final URL will be:

https://api.whatsapp.com/send?phone=254737844929&text=Hello%20Sparkskills

Or

https://wa.me/254737844929/?text=Hello%20Sparkskills

And you are done 😉
